One day, I was feeling so reluctant as I thought of spending my money to buy something for my brother and my friend, using up all my savings… After spending some time choosing and racking my brain what presents to buy for them, I walked towards the cashier. I was queuing in front of a rich lady with pearl chains dangling around her neck and her face filled with thick make-up, how I wished I could be as rich as her. Just then, I heard the cashier lady talking to the lady in front of me. She mentioned that the lady did not have enough money to buy the purchases. At that time, I could not contain the amount of laughing gas in my stomach and I burst out in laughter. Other customers also started to giggle after they knew what was happening. The lady felt so embarrassed, therefore she left the shop immediately to avoid anymore embarrassment. Just as I put my purchases down on the counter table, I forked out all the money in my purse. Little did I know that the same thing happened to me, the shop owner told me that the money was not enough and I was short of $5. I think my face went red then…I was so embarrassed. I kept hearing giggles in my head and I feel like running to a place where no one knows me. Now, I finally realized when you treat others badly you will receive the same kind of treatment back one day. What goes around comes around, I could feel how awkward to be laughed by others especially in the public. From that day onwards, I will think before I do anything bad to others as I did not want any embarrassment to happen to me anymore.

Most of the funny moments in my life are related to my brother,
Parathan. One of them happened few years back, but I can still remember it quite clearly.
It was the June holidays 2008 so my brother and I went to the Singapore zoo with my friends, Arvind and Deepu, and their family came along too. We were having lots of fun taking pictures and chatting while we watched the animals and their humorous antics.
We were walking towards the next animal after seeing the Orang Utan when Arvind, Parathan’s best friend, sighted a steep and curvy slope. “Wait, I want try something” he said as he went up the slope, and darted down at full speed such that he bumped into Parathan.
Parathan, one who is always up for anything that Arvind tries, raced up the slope and, he too, sprinted down the slope speedily. At the same time, an animal made a loud noise. Distracted, we turned to see what the matter was. When the animal made the sound, Parathan too was sidetracked from reaching the foot of the slope safely. Thus, he lost balance and fell into a nearby bush. Seeing that the animal which made the noise was just a seal, we turned back to watch Parathan.
However, he was missing. “PARATHAN! PARATHAN!!”, we called out to him worriedly but he did not answer us. As times flew by, I became frightened and started searching the areas around the slope and the places near the Orang Utan checking if he had wandered off to watch an animal without our knowledge. Deepu and her mother, too, joined in the search while Arvind started talking nonsense like “Oh my god! Parathan has vaporized! Aliens kidnapped him into outer space to examine his brain!” . When we realized that Parathan was n o w h e r e
to be found, we all began to panic. Deepu’s father suggested calling for help.
Just as he finished dialing the number and was about to push the call button, unexpectedly, an arm emerged out of the bush near which Deepu was standing. Startled by the sudden appearance of the arm, Deepu screamed. Slowly and dramatically, Parathan got out of the bush the way; heroes make their grand appearance in movies after something tragic happened and everyone was convinced that the hero is dead. Realizing that Parathan had been here just a few feet away, while all of us searched far and wide for him, we all began laughing uncontrollably.
Fortunately, he did not get hurt as the bush was full of soft leaves and was thick enough to break his fall. The day ended with many more antics of Parathan and Arvinds’ however this was the most captivating and memorable one.

I had a wonderful April’s Fool Day about two weeks ago. It was a day filled with fun and laughter and I had a really great time laughing at the pranks played. My class, 1P, played pranks on all the teachers who had lessons with us on that day and some of them played pranks on their classmates too. I remember particularly, the prank which Dharnia happened to play on Meena as she was our class clown therefore, her reaction was hilarious when she found out Dharnia had played a prank on her.
On that day, 1st April, I woke out with a sense of excitement and couldn’t wait to see the pranks that would be played since Dharnia had already told me over the phone yesterday that she would be playing numerous pranks on our classmates. I told myself to remember to pay extra attention to whatever I am doing as I would be an easy target since I usually am not as attentive. The moment I stepped into the classroom, I saw Dharnia heading towards me. “Uh-oh” I thought to myself while constantly reminding myself to be careful and to not be tricked by her. Dharnia reached to my side and waved, “Hi!” she greeted me cheerfully. I smiled back at her while still repeating to myself to be careful. She than leaned towards me and whispered to me her plan. “Let’s play a prank on Meena!” she whispered excitedly, “we could spill some water on her seat, and being the inattentive person she is, she will sit down without Noticing the water!” I nodded in agreement and stifled a giggle. We than proceed to pour some water on Meena’s chair inconspicuously and returned to our seats like nothing have happened.
Soon, Meena arrived at the classroom; as usual she placed her grey schoolbag and her hot pink laptop bag on the floor. She then pulled her seat and sat down on it without a glance. At that point in time, I couldn’t control myself and started laughing hysterically. Meena turned around and peered at me queerly a moment before turning back, all the while thinking that I have gone crazy. Not long later, we had to proceed to the parade square for morning assembly. Meena stood up and stretched her hand while yawning. I took a glance at her skirt and started laughing like a mad person again; Meena looked like she had urinated on her skirt! That was when Meena suspected something; she looked at me suspiciously and looked around her. She soon spotted her wet skirt. That was also when Dharnia came over, both of us roared with laughter instantly and Dharnia commented to Meena what I was thinking, “Meena, you looked like you just peed on your skirt!” she exclaimed in between her laughter. Meena smiled at us embarrassingly as she did not know what else to do and her cheeks turned red with embarrassment.
It was a really enjoyable day and I had lots of fun throughout the day laughing at the pranks played. From that day onwards, I also learnt to be much more careful during April’s Fools day! It was one of the best April’s Fools day I had as I did not celebrate April’s Fools day back in my previous school and this was the first April’s Fools day I had with my new classmates in Cedar!

Last week, my best friend, Amy, invited me to a magic show. I immediately accepted her request partly due to the fact that I had never seena magic show before in my lifetime. Just as we both reached the place, we had to jostle our way through the crowd. The show started and it was going on smoothly. The crowd went wild as he performed yet another attention-grabbing magic trick. Everyone cheered wildly and I could not help but giggle. The poor woman stood in the centre, very much embarrassed, the magician was quite proud of what he had fished out from under her clthes: her
BRASSIERE. There was more to come. The slighlty
scary-looking man smiled mysteriously at the audience, his eyes showing the faintest glimmer of excitement. The man wearing a checked shirt picked out a card from the deck without showing it to anyone and the magician threw it into the air together with the rest of the cards, the
bright sunlight glinting on its surface. Then, his hand reached into the man's shirt pocket and he produced a card with a flourish: the ace of spades; the
EXACT same card the man had chosen earlier on! The magician grinned, showing the audience the card. The man clapped in utter amazement, clearly bowled over by what had just happened. The magician proceeded to take of his hat, going round to collect money from the audience. Then he stopped at me. My smile
SLOWLY tightened. He took hold of my arm and pulled me towards the centre of the performing area. I kept an encouraging smile on my face, my heart
THUNDERING at such a tremendous speed. What was he going to do? Was he going to perform one of his wonderful tricks on me? I was excited yet nervous at the same time. He gave me something which seemed to be more like a wand and asked me to hold it. After a few seconds, I could hear giggles from pockets in the crowd. I did not understand why. Was it because something had happened? Had I
lost my underwear just like the lady in the first trick? I kept my smile on while trying to anticipate what was going on. I turned to my right and I had a shock of my life. I saw that the wand that I was holding was not straight but bent. It seemed to be like goofy's ears. I got afraid, but then the wand came back to its originalposition in just a few minutes. However, this did not last long. The wand became curved again then after a few minutes straight again. These actions happened consecutively. Looking at that, I broke into laughter. I laughed till I nearly cried. Everyone surrounding me including the magician was laughing their heads off. From this event, I learnt to be always very prepared to face the

Laughter the best medicine... Written @4:51 PM
April Fools’ Day this year was quite fun and all of us had a good laugh. The day started off with my brother startling himself awake by the alarm clock that I set to sound at four in the morning under his pillow. In school, we first, pretended to be asleep during mathematics lesson. However Mr. Ng was prepared for April fools’ tricks and he foiled our plan. Next we pretended to freeze during drama when the minute hand on the clock reached ten. Mr. Neil too was careful of tricks and he switched off the fans and lights in hope that we may get fed up with the heat of the class and continue with our work, but none of us gave in until somebody sneaked off to on the light and everyone burst out laughing. None of us, Tamil pupils from 1P, had thought of any trick to play on the teacher, however, in this case the teacher himself was in on the trick. On of the girls from a different class had brought a fake lizard to school. She laid the lizard on the floor and went to her seat before we came in. When we were near the lizard, the teacher pointed out the lizard but did not mention it was a fake one. We ran out of the way, screaming, while the girl to whom the lizard belonged started laughing as she came forward to pick the lizard up. Next we had home economics; it was quite boring if the hands on activity was excluded as we did not come up with any tricks to pull. After that, we had science and all of us hid our science materials and pretended that none of us had brought our things but as all the teachers were, Mrs. Toh was expecting these kinds of tricks and it backfired upon us as she figured out what was going on. In all this was a fun ‘first April fools’ day in cedar’.
